We're Back!

After an extremely long hiatus, the Redvest Expeditionary Group has returned.  I could launch into a lengthy explanation of where we were, what happened, etc..  Instead, I'll get right to the point.

The first stop for 2011 is a country that few people know about and even fewer still have actually visited. The name of this country conjures up images of child soldiers,well-heeled dictators and even human cannibalism.

Nothing yet? Alright. Here's a hint... In 2005, American actor Nicolas Cage put this country on the map in the movie Lord of War.

Still nothing?  Even The Dearly Departed Gloved One gave this country the ultimate shout-out on his Bad album--albeit a very confused one.  The vocals on the song were in Swahili, despite this country's official language being English.

OK.  Last hint.  When I tell people that I'm headed to this country, those who don't say "Where?!?" respond with "You're fucking CRAZY!!"

Ravaged by nearly 12 consecutive years of civil war, the Republic of Liberia looks to rebuild under new leadership and the promise of stability.  In February, the RVEG will put boots on the ground to bring you images of the Liberia of today. How much different will that be versus the Liberia of a few years ago?  We don't know, but apparently, the water is just fine.
